Joel Duncan

Strategic Advisor

Joel believes in the potential of an individual.  He has a unique ability to help others be the best version of themselves.  He listens intensely, understands and liberally doles out affirmation, confidence and simple colloquialisms like “Don’t let the start stop you.” As Strategic Advisor, Joel’s responsible for working where he’s needed most, including strategic execution, business development, operational improvement and personal mentoring. Joel has over 30 years’ experience in various roles with PEO’s from Dallas, TX, Sarasota, FL and, most recently Des Moines, IA. 

After holding several executive level roles at Selective HR, Joel served as President and CEO of Aureon HR / Merit Resources from 2007 to 2018 and led the organization through ownership transitions to Iowa Network Services (INS), later re-branded to Aureon / Aureon HR, and to Oasis Outsourcing.  During his time at Aureon HR / Merit Resources, Joel oversaw industry leading growth, created tremendous value for clients and shareholders, but, most importantly, he helped individuals to grow and realize their potential, professionally and personally.  Most recently, Joel has assisted business leaders with organizational design and leadership development through his company Sounding Board Consulting. 

Joel earned a degree in Business Administration from Ouachita Baptist University. He recently celebrated 28 years of marriage and has two children. In addition to his role as Strategic Advisor, Joel serves on several business, civic and community boards.
